An environment of peace and moral uprightness is greatly desired, however certain activities and behaviour make this a dream rather than a reality. Social vices are evidences of human interaction and existence which represent gap between the ideal and the reality and could be seen as pointers to areas where adjustments are needed in the community. They have harmful effect on individuals and the community at large. These negative impact necessitates collective responsibility to curb them within the community. This paper examines social vices in their varying forms and measures taken to militate against them. The paper considers community engagement and participation as an alternative means of curbing social vices. It considers strategies to elicit participation of community members, to contend with social vices. It concludes that there is need to mobilize community resources and strengthen communitybased organizations and community stakeholders, to rise to the occasion in terms of moral rejuvenation with inclusive and engaging process of dialogue within an atmosphere that is interesting, uncomplicated or tensed up. It also calls for an exemplary leadership, for a successful campaign against social vices.
