The fourth industrial revolution, globally called Industry 4.0, has ushered-in a new model of education globally called Education 4.0. This paper was written to critically discuss the emergence of Education 4.0 generally and its implications for teaching-learning activities in tertiary institutions. The paper was written as a result of dearth of detailed discussion of how the new model of education will have a wide-ranging impact and transformation on teachinglearning activities in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It began with the discussion of the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution and its technologies. It further discussed the emergence, definitions, features and technology of Education 4.0; the taxonomy of Education 4.0 Framework and benefits to higher education institutions; teaching-learning processes in higher education institutions in Education 4.0 era; and the risks and danger of using GenAl in higher education institutions. The paper recommended, among others, that
management of higher education institutions in Nigeria should organise awareness capacity building workshop for lecturers on Education and Teaching 4.0; competencies building workshop for lecturers on the requirements of
Teaching 4.0; development of ethical framework on the use of GenAl in higher education institutions; competencies building workshop for students on Learning 4.0 and responsible use of GenAl; and development of a capacity
building framework for GenAl use in higher education institutions in Nigeria.
