Abstract
Language plays an important role in teaching and learning. It is central in the educational system of any nation if such a nation will develop. Whatever knowledge is inculcated in a child is hardly as important as the language used as medium of instruction. Using the wrong medium can kill or destroy the child’s cultural orientation and his personality. There is need for Nigerian languages to be recognised and re-engineered to be used for instructional dissemination. This is because education is a mirror for the entire society and it can only be meaningfully to learners if their indigenous languages are employed as media of instruction. This paper looks into re-engineering Nigerian languages for instructional dissemination in Nigerian educational system.
